Downtown Acworth's Fall Calendar Keeps Coming Back to the Block Behind Henry's

Visit Acworth lists the location of this Saturday's Taste of Acworth as 4835 N Main St. That is also the street address of Henry's Louisiana Grill. Seven weeks later, the City of Acworth will light its Christmas tree on "the Plaza behind Henry's." The city's proposed downtown streetscape plan would close the Dallas Street alley between Henry's and Hill Brothers Flooring and turn it into outdoor gathering space. That plan is on the project list tied to the November 3 sales tax referendum.

So the block that holds downtown's biggest fall and holiday crowds is also the block the city has drawn up plans to rebuild for crowds. Here is how the next ten weeks line up around that one stretch of Main Street, and what is still pending around it.

The Address on the Taste of Acworth Listing

Taste of Acworth runs Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Acworth Business Association and Superior Plumbing put it on every October. The ABA describes local restaurant samples at $1 to $10, along with local vendors, a Kid's Zone, an entertainment stage, the Georgia Grown Member Village and a beer garden. The City of Acworth listing places the event on Main Street in the Historic Downtown District and lists admission as free.

The 2026 restaurant lineup hasn't been posted yet. The ABA page links a 2026 food vendor application but no roster, so check back closer to Saturday instead of relying on last year's list.

One schedule detail matters for Saturday mornings. The Historic Downtown Acworth Farmers Market at Logan Farm Park has no Saturday market on October 17, the same day as Taste. The Friday morning market still runs that week.

Ten Weeks, Three Parks and One Plaza

The rest of the season moves around town, but it keeps returning to downtown. These are the dated events from now through mid-December, taken from the City of Acworth calendar:

  • Saturday, October 17. Taste of Acworth on Main Street, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. No Saturday Farmers Market.
  • Saturday, October 24. Halloween JamBOOree at Logan Farm Park, 3 to 7 p.m., on the large field in front of the playground, with games, rides, food and music.
  • Tuesday, October 27. The city's fall community update at the Acworth Community Center, 6:30 p.m., covering ongoing and upcoming city projects.
  • Friday, October 30. The last Friday Farmers Market of the season at Logan Farm Park.
  • Saturday, November 7. No Saturday market.
  • Saturday, November 14. The last Saturday Farmers Market of the season.
  • Friday, December 4. Santa's Arrival in Historic Downtown. Festivities start at 6 p.m., Santa arrives at 6:30 and the tree is lit on the plaza behind Henry's.
  • Saturday, December 5. Christmas in Acworth at Depot Park, 1 to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, December 16. The Light Up Main PTV Parade at 6 p.m.

If your kids are entering the JamBOOree costume contest, plan on getting there early. Signups open at 4:30 p.m., each category is capped at 13 entries, and judging starts at 5. Categories include family or group, plus age-banded divisions for funny, unique or creative, spooky and cutest costumes. Winners get trophies. The city's description doesn't mention trunk-or-treat, so don't plan around one.

The Farmers Market wraps up a month before the holiday events start. That leaves late November quiet downtown. The Friday tree lighting and the Saturday at Depot Park then land back to back in the first weekend of December.

Light Up Main Runs on Golf Carts, and the Paperwork Comes First

The December parade is the event most tied to how people get around Acworth. In the city's usage, PTV means personal transport vehicle. Acworth Police define it as a vehicle with a top speed of 20 mph or less, which includes both electric and gas golf carts.

Entering a decorated cart is free, but you have to register. Before signing up, check the basics the police department lists for any PTV on city streets:

  1. A city PTV permit.
  2. Proof of insurance.
  3. A driver who is at least 16 and holds a valid license.

The full requirements are on the Acworth Police PTV registration page. On parade night, decorated carts line up at Cauble Park, Pavilion 3, by 5:30 p.m. The route described locally ends at Acworth First Baptist Church, 4583 Church St.

This year's parade runs in the evening, starting at 6 p.m. The city suggests solar-powered lights for decorating, but it hasn't said why the start time moved. The city's event page links a parade map, but it doesn't list a registration deadline, so check that page before decorating.

The streetscape plan comes back in here. One of its listed features is more PTV parking downtown.

The Alley Beside Henry's Is on the November 3 List

The City of Acworth and the Acworth Downtown Development Authority have drafted a master plan for the Historic Downtown District. The city's SPLOST project page, updated September 18, 2026, describes Phase 1 this way:

"The plan closes the Dallas Street alley between Henry's and Hill Brothers Flooring to create new outdoor gathering space, adding outdoor dining bump outs along Main Street, expanding PTV parking, and increasing usable sidewalk space in front of storefronts."

The project is listed at $1,000,000. It is one item on Acworth's proposed 2028 SPLOST renewal list. SPLOST is a 1% county sales tax for capital projects. The current program expires December 31, 2027, and the city says a renewal referendum is proposed for the general election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. If voters approve it, the city projects its share at $28,039,043 over the six-year program.

Next to the rest of the list, the downtown item is small. The Nance Road, Acworth Due West Road and Acworth Summit Boulevard corridor work is listed at $6,508,043, and citywide paving and road safety at $6,750,000. The Marietta Daily Journal's coverage led with roads and sidewalks and described the downtown work as proposed. Still, the $1 million line is the one tied to where the tree lighting and Taste of Acworth already happen.

The plan is a proposal. No construction schedule has been published, and the master plan document the city posted is a scanned file with few readable details beyond the city's summary. For a direct update, the October 27 community meeting at the Acworth Community Center is the city's scheduled session on ongoing and upcoming projects.

Two Pieces Still Pending: Cherokee Street and Cauble Park

Two more changes near downtown are partway done, and both affect this season.

On Cherokee Street, Atlanta News First reported in July that Bizarre Coffee planned to open October 1 inside the pre-Civil War McCray House at 4415 Cherokee Street. As of October 12, the company's Acworth page still says "COMING SOON" and describes work as underway. If it does open before Taste of Acworth or the holiday weekends, it adds another stop a short distance from Main Street. For now, it isn't open yet.

At Cauble Park, where the parade carts gather on December 16, the city calls Phase I of its improvements recently completed. That work was paid for through the 2016 and 2022 SPLOST programs. The same page lists what is still needed: new restrooms, trails inside the park, a bridge replacement and paved parking. The 2028 renewal list proposes $1,250,000 for that next round.

So the season runs like this. Taste of Acworth takes over Main Street at 4835 N Main this Saturday. Santa lights the tree behind Henry's on December 4. On December 16, six weeks after the referendum, the golf carts roll out of Cauble Park.

If you own on or near this stretch of Main Street, or are thinking about selling there, what happens on November 3 could affect how buyers see that block.
