For years, a summer night in Canton meant one decision: Main Street or home. The historic core did the heavy lifting, First Fridays anchored the calendar, and the rest of the week was quiet. That map is out of date. Locals are routing between the two. Dinner in the Jones Building, a concert at Etowah River Park, dessert at The Mill, a nightcap on West Main. The reason to write this down is that the calendar is unusually dense this year, and knowing which node hosts what saves a lot of driving in circles.
The Two Centers, Ninety Seconds Apart
The historic core sits along East Main and Marietta Street, where the 113-year-old Canton Theatre still anchors the block and Cannon Park sets the stage for street festivals. The Mill sits at 225 Reformation Parkway, a repurposed 250,000-square-foot campus with restaurants, a brewery, and event lawns along the river. They are close enough that a family can eat at one and catch a show at the other without a second thought.
What is new in 2026 is that both sides are programming aggressively at the same time. The city runs First Fridays out of Main Street from May through October, closing the road to traffic. The Mill runs its own parallel calendar of movie nights, watch parties, and tenant openings. Neither is trying to poach the other; they are creating a two-venue summer that rewards residents who know the schedule.

Bully Run is elevated bar food; POPS is fresh pasta and sandwiches out of the Jones Building. Same operator, two different roles.
Kilwins moved into Suite 400 of The Mill, giving the campus a dessert stop that pulls families off the movie lawn and back inside. Reformation Brewery occupies Suite 500 and remains the anchor draw for taproom nights. Rock N' Roll Sushi and Campania both appear on the downtown dining list and at Mill addresses, which is a small piece of evidence that tenants themselves treat the two sides as one commercial ecosystem rather than a competition.
Main Street's Half Of The Story
The Main Street core is denser and more walkable. Downtown Kitchen at 140 E Marietta runs a rotating menu Monday through Saturday and books private events in a 75-seat back room, which is the kind of detail that tells you it is designed for repeat local traffic rather than tourists. POPS at 130 East Main sits in the remodeled Jones Building steps from Cannon Park, with a small in-house market selling imported olive oils and pasta tools alongside the New York cheesecake.
The Holler at 301 West Main is the outdoor bar option, a turfed beer garden with a container kitchen and Tuesday and Thursday running groups at 6:30 PM that end at the taproom. Queenie's, Goin' Coastal, Local on North, and Community Burger fill in the rest of the block. Bizarre Coffee handles the personality-driven coffee slot downtown. Menagerie on Main, curated by Jamie Foreman inside a repurposed historic home on West Main, adds rotating gallery shows and porch music to the mix.
The practical shift is that Canton is no longer a one-decision town on a Friday. It is a two-node town, and the residents who know both nodes have a better summer than the ones who pick a side.

Why This Matters For A Neighborhood That Is Already Home
The reason to catalog any of this is that Canton's identity is being rewritten in slow motion. Riverfest still draws more than 25,000 people to Etowah River Park in September, and Wing & Rock Fest still fills downtown in March, but the summer between those two poles is doing more work than it used to. The Mill did not replace Main Street. It gave residents a second reason to stay in town on a Tuesday.
